Santa Rosa Island Fire 59% Contained, Torrey Pines Safe

The Santa Rosa Island Fire is now 59% contained after burning 18,379 acres, making it the largest fire in the park's history. Crews have shifted to patrol and mop-up operations.

- Torrey Pines remain largely intact, with only small pockets burned. - Two historic structures were destroyed: Johnson's Lee Equipment Shed and Wreck Line Camp Cabin.

- The island remains closed through at least June 6, 2026. The fire is under investigation and is human-caused.

A marine layer is expected to aid firefighting efforts.
