Santa Barbara County has issued layoff notices to more than 80 employees due to slumping revenues and reduced federal and state funding. - The majority of affected workers are in health and social services.

- The proposed budget for the new fiscal year is $1.64 billion, down 2.9% from the current year. - Some employees may apply for other vacant positions, and job fairs are planned to assist them.

The county is taking steps to mitigate the impact on workers while addressing its financial challenges.
