Sandy Fire Containment Grows in Simi Valley

The Sandy fire in Simi Valley has reached 15% containment after burning 1,698 acres and destroying one home. Approximately 43,000 residents remain under evacuation orders.

- Fire started Monday night off Sandy Avenue. - Overnight spotting near Sequoia Avenue.

- Winds light, humidity improving Wednesday. - Other fires: Verona (5% contained), Bain (10% contained), Santa Rosa Island (26% contained).

Fire crews continue aggressive aerial and ground attacks. Evacuation warnings extend to nearby communities including Agoura Hills and Calabasas.
