A San Jose man was sentenced to 25 years to life for murdering his 8-month-old daughter. The fatal blow occurred in 2020 while the child was in his sole care.

- Jesse Manuel Figueroa, 36, was convicted in January for the death of Baby Raina. - An autopsy revealed Raina suffered a fatal blow to the head, causing brain displacement.

- Figueroa had a history of domestic abuse, including an arrest days before Raina's birth. - The child's mother had brought Raina to Figueroa for babysitting despite a restraining order.

The sentencing brings a measure of justice, with the district attorney noting Raina would have been 6 years old today.
