San Joaquin County's old courthouse faces demolition

San Joaquin County plans to demolish the old courthouse in Stockton, a 1964 building widely disliked. The $10 million project will make way for a new law and justice facility.

- The old courthouse at 222 E. Weber Ave.

has housed the District Attorney's Office since 2017. - The district attorney will relocate to 6 S.

El Dorado St. in August.

- The 1964 building replaced a Victorian-era courthouse demolished in 1961. - The new facility may include the Public Defender's Office and law library.

The demolition is part of ongoing efforts to improve county services in downtown Stockton.
