A railcar carrying lithium-ion batteries caught fire early Wednesday, forcing the closure of Cajon Boulevard through the Cajon Pass in San Bernardino County. The fire was reported at 1:15 a.m.
on June 3. Hazmat crews monitored air quality as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
The affected rail car was isolated on a single track. Closures were lifted by 11 a.m., but the railcar continued to smolder into the afternoon.
