Quincy Racers Complete 24 Hours of Lemons in Space Shuttle-Themed Car Honoring Late Friend

A five-member team from Quincy, California, participated in the 24 Hours of Lemons race at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows on May 23-24, 2026, driving a 1993 Honda Accord Wagon transformed into a space shuttle-themed racer. The car, named 'Space Shuttle Very Disco,' was built to honor the memory of Dave Sozzani, a Quincy resident who died in December 2024.

- The team finished 17th in their class and 58th overall out of 110 cars. - The car was built from Sozzani's former commuter car, a 1993 Honda Accord Wagon with over 230,000 miles.

- The space shuttle theme was inspired by a linoprint Sozzani made in college. - The team plans to race again in Sonoma in December 2026.
