Plumas National Forest Opens Recreation Sites for Summer

Plumas National Forest has opened nearly all recreation sites for the summer season, with some campgrounds opening earlier than usual due to warm weather and reduced snowpack. Visitors are urged to prepare for changing conditions and practice fire safety.

- Sites at Antelope Lake, Bucks Lake, Frenchman Lake, Gold Lake, Lakes Basin, and Lake Davis are open. - Early openings include Little Grass Valley Reservoir campgrounds on May 28 and Sly Creek Campground on May 23.

- Gold Lake 4x4 Camp and Hutchins Group Camp open June 6; Red Feather Campground opens June 26. - No fire restrictions yet, but caution is advised; drivers and hikers should watch for icy or muddy conditions.

Forest personnel remind visitors to bring appropriate gear and inform others of their plans.
