Pleasanton Council to Finalize Hotel Tax Ballot Measure

02 June 2026 09:30

The Pleasanton City Council is moving forward with a hotel tax increase measure for the November 2026 ballot. - The proposed measure would raise the transient occupancy tax from 8% to 10% in July 2027, then to 12% in July 2028.

- The tax is paid by hotel guests, not residents, and is expected to generate $1.4 million to $2.8 million annually. - Revenue would help reduce the city's budget deficit and offset service cuts.

- The council will also vote on sewer rate increases and approve a new interim city manager contract. The measure requires a simple majority to pass if placed on the ballot.
