PG&E Shutoffs Possible as Fire Weather and Heat Wave Grip Northern California

A heat wave and critical fire weather are prompting PG&E to consider power shutoffs in Northern California. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the East Bay Hills and North Bay Mountains due to gusty winds and low humidity.

Temperatures are expected to reach 100 degrees in some areas Thursday, followed by a sharp cooldown over the weekend. Coastal flood advisories are also in effect for low-lying areas.

- PG&E warns of possible public safety power shutoffs in Sonoma, Napa, and other counties. - Red Flag Warning in effect from 11 p.m.

Wednesday to 9 a.m. Thursday for East Bay Hills and North Bay Mountains.

- Heat advisory from noon Thursday to 11 p.m. Friday; temperatures could hit 100 degrees in inland areas.

- Coastal flood advisory issued for North Bay ocean coast and San Francisco Bayshore through Saturday. Residents are urged to prepare for outages, stay hydrated, and avoid spark-producing activities.
