A court has mandated financial restitution from convicted killer Paul Flores to the family of his victim, Kristin Smart. Paul Flores was ordered to pay over $346,000 to the Smart family during a remote hearing.
Flores is currently serving a sentence of 25 years to life for the first-degree murder of the Cal Poly student in 1996. The restitution order is a separate civil judgment from his criminal conviction.
This ruling represents a continued effort to secure a measure of justice for the Smart family decades after Kristin's disappearance and murder.
