Key officials, including Jestin Johnson and LaTonda Simmons, expressed excitement about the decision, with Johnson saying he was "excited about us being able to take the handcuffs off." The city subsequently adopted a more aggressive approach to homeless encampments, with Mayor Sheng Thao ordering accelerated sweeps and pressuring staff to clear camps.
