Northeastern journalism students document Hurricane Helene aftermath in Asheville

A team of Northeastern University journalism students, led by Professor Carlene Hempel, traveled to Asheville, North Carolina, for a week-long intensive reporting trip focused on the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. - The project, titled 'Caught in the Current: Helene Recovery in Asheville and Beyond,' is a digital multimedia investigation.

- Sydney Woogerd, a journalism and international affairs student, served as the project's photo editor. - The reporting class previously won two national awards for its coverage of the Flint water crisis anniversary.

The investigation includes a soundtrack and aims to capture the community's recovery efforts and personal stories.
