A new lead has been announced in the nearly decade-old homicide case of a Selma teenager. The Fresno County Sheriff's Office revealed new information on Friday in the 2017 shooting death of 15-year-old Desiree Austin.

The victim, Desiree Austin, was a Selma High School sophomore killed in a drive-by shooting on August 31, 2017. Detectives are seeking a blue 2002 Buick Rendezvous (CA plate 7EDR747) with a female driver and male passenger seen at the scene.

Investigators believe the firearm used may be connected to another shooting in Fresno County. The victim's mother, Lydia MagaƱa, expressed hope that the new information will bring some peace and closure to her family after nine years.
