A new training academy in Fresno is preparing first responders to recover human remains after deadly wildfires. The Central California Forensic Fire Death Investigation Academy, held at Fresno City College, taught participants how to handle fragile remains and work as a team.

- The weeklong course included lectures and hands-on scenarios with staged fires. - Attendees came from the Central Valley, Bay Area, East Coast, and Scotland.

- The training aims to improve victim identification and provide closure to families. As wildfires become more destructive in California, the need for skilled forensic investigators is growing.

The academy helps ensure that first responders are ready before the next major disaster strikes.
