The Native Daughters of the Golden West Santa Cruz Parlor awarded over $80,000 in scholarships to 15 students at its annual Scholarship Luncheon in Aptos. Most scholarships are $5,000, with additional $1,000 gifts from an anonymous donor.
Recipients include students pursuing careers in dental hygiene, bio chemistry, bio-engineering, mechanical engineering, public health, sociology, health science, nursing, human biology, civil engineering, business administration, neurobiology, and chemistry. The Santa Cruz Fly Fishing Club also awarded $500 scholarships to eight graduating seniors majoring in environmental science.
The Native Daughters, established in 1888, support education, veterans, and California landmarks.
