A minor earthquake was recorded in Central California early Monday morning. The magnitude 3 event occurred at 1:48 AM PDT on April 6, 2026.
The epicenter was 12 km NW of Parkfield at a depth of 10 km. Nearby towns including Coalinga, San Miguel, and Avenal were in proximity to the tremor.
The preliminary data, which is still awaiting seismologist review, indicates a very light micro earthquake with no immediate reports of damage.
