Man Pleads Not Guilty to Murder of Caltech Astrophysicist in Llano

Freddy Snyder has pleaded not guilty to murdering Caltech astrophysicist Carl Grillmair. The shooting occurred outside Grillmair's home in Llano on February 16, 2026.

- Snyder is also charged with carjacking and first-degree residential burglary. - He allegedly stole his mother's car after firing a shot into the ceiling.

- Snyder faces up to life in prison if convicted. The defendant remains in custody with bail set at $3 million.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 5.
