Man arrested after gun threat, chase, gun tossed in canal

A 31-year-old Tulare man was arrested by Corcoran police after a firearm threat led to a chase and the recovery of a stolen pistol from a canal. - Salvador Cortez threatened people with a firearm on Dairy Avenue around 7:30 p.m.

Thursday. - He led police on a pursuit and threw a .45-caliber Kimber Pro II pistol into a canal.

- The pistol was reported stolen from Montana. - Cortez faces charges including criminal threats, firearm violations, and felony pursuit.

The incident ended with Cortez booked into Kings County Jail after a four-hour canal search.
