Long Beach Summer Reading Program Expands with Prizes and Year-Round Teen Engagement

The Long Beach Public Library's summer reading program launches June 13, offering prizes for all ages. Registration opens June 13 in person or online via Beanstack.

Prizes include Aquarium of the Pacific discounts, restaurant vouchers, and minigolf tickets. Participation surged from 1,910 in 2024 to 2,689 in 2025, with completions up 47%.

The LitLoot teen program expanded to 11 locations, growing 52% in 2025. The eight-week program encourages reading, creative challenges, and library events, with a grand prize drawing for children earning at least 10 points.
