KAZU News Team Wins National and Regional Journalism Awards for 2025 Coverage

The KAZU News team has won multiple journalism awards for their 2025 coverage. The Public Media Journalists Association awarded second place nationally to Elena Neale-Sacks for her series on federal policy impacts on local agriculture.

The Radio Television Digital News Association gave KAZU four regional Edward R. Murrow awards: - Continuing Coverage for the Moss Landing battery plant fire aftermath - Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for a story on Watsonville farmworker doulas - News Series for Erin Malsbury's investigation into fertilizer contamination in Salinas Valley wells - Sports Reporting for Katie Brown's piece on surfing economics in Santa Cruz All regional winners advance to the national competition in August.
