Huntington Mayor: Town Safe After Frontage Fire

Huntington Mayor Chuck Guerri confirmed Sunday morning that the town is safe after the Frontage Fire burned 1,500 acres near the east edge. - The fire was reported Saturday evening, June 6, 2026, near Highway 30.

- I-84 was temporarily closed between Baker City and Ontario, reopening early Sunday. - Evacuation notices were issued for Farewell Bend State Park (Level 3) and parts of Huntington (Level 2 and 1).

- No cause has been determined, and cooler temperatures helped firefighters. The Frontage Fire is the second wildfire to threaten Huntington in two years, following a 4,500-acre blaze in July 2024.
