High schoolers create clinical trial app for cancer patients

16 June 2026 09:04

Two high school students in California have developed an app called Trialify to help cancer patients find clinical trials more easily. - The app was inspired by Thaddeus Reichley, a Marin County man with stage 4 melanoma who struggled to navigate trial listings.

- Jaya Breene and Cooper Marr built the app using data from clinicaltrials.gov, making it accessible for patients to discuss with their doctors. - The project was facilitated by Ken Kurtzig's Impact App Challenge, which mentors teens in creating social impact apps.

Reichley, now in a clinical trial, praised the students for their empathy and technical skill, noting the app could benefit many patients.
