The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazard statement for San Diego and Orange County coasts due to elevated surf and strong rip currents. - The warning is effective Sunday through Friday evening.

- Surf of 3 to 6 feet with sets up to 7 feet is expected along south-facing beaches. - High rip current and longshore current risks create hazardous swimming conditions.

- Beachgoers are advised to stay out of the water; if caught in a rip current, swim parallel to shore.
