A citizen group in Tuolumne County has filed a proposed ballot measure to increase fire funding through a 0.75% sales tax. - The tax would generate $4.5 million annually for fire protection and wildfire prevention.
- It would restore funding for Station 56 in Mono Vista and require a 4/5 vote for future station closures. - The measure also funds expanded prevention work, a reserve fund, equipment, and an oversight committee.
The County Counsel will now prepare a ballot title and summary before signature gathering begins.
