Father of two who spent three days in an Azusa police car died of extreme heat, officials say

Eric Valencia, a 37-year-old father of two, died of hyperthermia after being locked in an unlocked police SUV outside the Azusa Police Department for three days. - He was arrested on March 20 for DUI and child endangerment.

- He was released on March 23 and entered the patrol vehicle voluntarily. - His body was found on March 26 when the vehicle was taken for washing.

- The family is demanding an investigation and questioning the lack of a toxicology screening. The medical examiner ruled the death accidental, but the family says it could have been prevented.
