Butte County Public Health is investigating a cluster of E. coli O157 illnesses in Big Chico Creek from summer 2025.
- Water and sediment samples were collected on May 4 from multiple creek locations. - Samples were sent to the State Water Board laboratory for analysis.
- The O157 variant was not detected in any of the samples. The investigation continues as officials seek to identify the source and ensure public safety.
