A driver died early Monday after their vehicle went into an irrigation canal on Highway 41 in Kings County. - The crash occurred shortly after 4 a.m.
on Highway 41, south of Nevada Avenue, near Stratford. - Witnesses said the driver exited the vehicle and tried to swim to the canal bank but disappeared.
- Emergency personnel later located the driver and pronounced them dead at the scene. - Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to have been factors.
The incident remains under investigation.
