Colusa Students Earn Purple Belts in Martial Arts

Seven students in Colusa achieved purple belt rank in Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan martial arts on May 6, a first for the local program. - The students recognized were Christopher Roland, Claire Finnen, Henry Finnen, Scarlet Martinez, Ramiro Solis, David Murray, and Emily Murray.

- Each student received a circular patch from Okinawa, Japan, awarded at the sixth of eight belt levels. - The program began in 2023 under Renshi Rod Brayfindley, and this is the first time students reached this rank.

- Sensei Brayfindley expressed pride in the young achievers. The achievement highlights the growth of the martial arts program in Colusa, fostering discipline and skill among local youth.
