California Raises Black Bear Harvest Limit to 2

The California Fish and Game Commission has adopted new black bear hunting regulations and discussed marine protected area petitions. - The bear harvest limit per hunter was raised to two, with the statewide cap remaining at 1,700.

- Hunt area boundaries now include all of Lassen and Modoc counties. - CDFW evaluated 10 MPA petitions, recommending denial or non-regulatory alternatives.

- Public meetings on MPAs are scheduled in San Mateo, Goleta, and San Clemente. The Commission also advanced candidacy for two thrasher species and continued consideration of the western spadefoot frog.
