California Gets $440M from Purdue Opioid Settlement

California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced that a $7.4 billion settlement with Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family is now in effect. - California will receive over $440 million for opioid addiction treatment, prevention, and recovery.

- The Sacklers are permanently barred from selling opioids in the U.S. and will pay over $1.5 billion immediately.

- Purdue's manufacturing operations transfer to Knoa Pharma LLC, which cannot market opioids. - Over 30 million documents related to the opioid business will be made public.

This settlement caps nearly a decade of litigation and provides critical funding to communities across the country, including Tuolumne County.
