California Cruise Passengers Monitored for Andes Virus

California health officials are monitoring four residents exposed to the deadly Andes hantavirus linked to a cruise ship outbreak. - Three residents were aboard the MV Hondius, and one was on a flight near an ill passenger.

- Two residents are home under monitoring, including one in Santa Clara County; two are in Nebraska for evaluation. - The CDC says the public risk is extremely low, and the virus rarely spreads between people.

- Eight cases and three deaths have been reported from the outbreak, with all passengers now disembarked. The situation remains under close watch, with no symptoms reported in monitored individuals so far.
