Recent tests on Big Chico Creek in Butte County have found no presence of the E. coli O157 strain that caused illnesses in 2025.

- BCPH collected water and sediment samples on May 4, 2026. - Samples were tested at a State Water Board laboratory.

- The O157 variant was not detected in any sample. - The creek is considered safe for recreation, but caution is advised.
