14 June 2026 05:25

Art Explorers is launching its first Disability Pride Month celebration in July 2026 with a full schedule of events across Mendocino County. The month-long program includes art exhibits, puppet parades, community talks, and partnerships with local businesses.

Key highlights: - A group exhibition 'HERE WE ARE' featuring works from progressive art studios statewide, running July 1-31 at Art Explorers. - A puppet parade on July 3 during First Friday, with cardboard puppets inspired by Bread and Puppets.

- Art installations at 15 local businesses, including Café Beaujolais, Fort Bragg Library, and Stanford Inn. - A community panel discussion on July 17 and a dance party on July 24 with a presentation by Nicole Adler, the first disabled Grand Marshal of San Francisco Pride.

The celebration aims to promote visibility, remove stigma, and honor the Disability Rights Movement, with hopes to make it an annual event.
