AltaSea has announced a new STEM network program along the Los Angeles Waterfront, partnering with several organizations to provide hands-on learning and career pathways in the blue economy. Partners include Battleship Iowa, Los Angeles Maritime Institute, Friends of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, and Los Angeles Harbor College.

The program offers immersive STEM education, certificate programs, paid internships, apprenticeships, mentorships, educator training, and community engagement. Activities have already begun, with expanded programs starting in fall 2026.

AltaSea CEO Terry Tamminem emphasized the waterfront as a powerful classroom for students to explore ocean, port, and career opportunities. The initiative aims to link science, history, innovation, and workforce development for students in the region.
