A 71-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after a hit-and-run driver struck his moped in La Jolla. The incident happened at the intersection of La Jolla Boulevard and Nautilus Street on Sunday afternoon.
The victim was riding a 2025 Vespa moped southbound on a green light. A black Nissan Rogue (2008-2013 model) ran a red light and hit him.
The driver fled immediately; the victim has severe injuries including a brain bleed and collapsed lung. Authorities are investigating and urge witnesses to contact police.
