A head-on collision on Highway 41 in Kings County resulted in five fatalities Sunday morning. The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m.
south of York Avenue. A Chevrolet Silverado crossed into the opposing lane to pass and struck a Toyota Prius head-on.
The Silverado overturned and caught fire. The drivers of both vehicles and three passengers in the Silverado were killed.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash, and it is unknown if impairment was a factor.
